Giving Back

Supporting Those Who Serve

Honoring a Legacy. Helping a Community.

At RimRox,  we believe in giving back to the people who bring life, warmth, and energy to the places we all love. Behind every amazing bar experience is a person — a bartender, a server, a manager — someone whose passion for hospitality creates unforgettable memories. But when cancer strikes, it can derail not only a career but an entire life. That’s why we’re proud to donate a portion of every RimRox purchase to the Helen David Relief Fund (HDRF) — an organization that provides critical financial assistance to hospitality workers undergoing cancer treatment or recovery.

The Helen David Relief Fund

A Legacy of Strength

The HDRF was created to honor Helen David,  a beloved bar owner and community icon from Port Huron, Michigan. Born in the early 20th century, Helen defied all odds — at a time when women-owned businesses were nearly unheard of, she opened and operated The Brass Rail bar for over 69 years. It still stands as a local institution today. Helen wasn’t just a business owner — she was a leader, a trailblazer, and a fighter. She survived breast cancer twice and continued to lead her bar and community with strength and compassion. She was an active force in the Licensed Beverage Association and held leadership roles in both the St. Clair County Association and the Michigan Association. When she wasn’t running her bar, Helen could be found on the golf course, bowling lanes, or casting a line into the water — even landing a feature  in Sport Fishing Magazine for her incredible catches around the world. She sponsored local sports teams and had a particular love for hockey, infusing every part of her life with enthusiasm and generosity. Her  vibrant spirit lives on in the HDRF, which offers immediate cash grants  to people in the bar and hospitality industry currently undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. You don’t need to be a USBG member to apply — the fund is open to anyone in the industry facing this difficult journey.

Inspiration from the Bar That Started It All

The fund was founded by Tony Abou-Ganim,  a renowned mixologist and nephew of Helen David. Tony grew up in The Brass Rail, sipping Shirley Temples and watching his uncles tend bar. It  was Helen who inspired him to pursue the craft, teaching him not just the art of bartending, but the value of pride, dignity, and care in everything he did.
“My earliest influence came from my Cousin Helen, who taught me, ’For a nickel more, you go first class.’ – Tony Abou-Ganim
Through  his work and vision, the HDRF became a way to carry Helen’s legacy forward — one grant, one person, one recovery at a time.
 How RimRox Is Giving Back
We’re  proud to stand with the HDRF in supporting members of the hospitality family in their time of greatest need. For every product you purchase from RimRox, a portion goes directly to the fund — helping cover living expenses, medical bills, transportation costs, and more for those battling cancer. It’s our way of honoring the industry that inspires our products — and the people who make it what it is.
